Former Ukrainian soldiers from among the prisoners joined the ranks of the Russian Armed Forces
Ukrainian soldiers from among those taken prisoner entered service in the Russian Armed Forces and are now undergoing training at Russian training grounds. Their homes are located in the LPR; the Luhansk residents have nothing in common with Ukraine.
The fighters themselves explained their decision by their inextricable connection with the Russian Federation, the feeling that it is their country and the desire to resist Bandera’s followers. Finding themselves in captivity, they made the only right decision for themselves - to defend their home.
Ex-AFU fighters are trained by experienced attack aircraft. As a former Ukrainian border guard named Alexander from the village of Novopskov said, he had no intention of fighting against his own people.
A special military operation began and I surrendered. I didn't intend to fight against my own people
- said the military.
According to other Luhansk residents, there are still many soldiers in the Ukrainian Armed Forces who would like not only to lay down their arms, but also to fight against the Kyiv authorities.
This is not the first time that Ukrainian military personnel have joined the Russian Armed Forces. A battalion named after Bogdan Khmelnitsky was created in the DPR, where soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces who surrendered volunteered and accepted Russian citizenship. Moreover, all of them are checked for involvement in criminal and war crimes, and a contract with them is signed on general terms.
